theatres in the province offer a
selection of the traditional sacred music and flamenco carols
The
Christmas Season is full of music and the Province of Cádiz
adds flamenco carols to the traditional performance of sacred music.
This double style emerges in the musical programs of the main theatres
in the Province. Therefore, the Christmas band "Toma Castaña"
will be presenting the fifth volume of "Nochebuena en Cai"
(Christmas Eve in Cádiz) at the Gran Teatro Falla, on Friday
1 and Saturday 2. These CDs of flamenco carols have become a classic
in the Cádiz Christmas. The Extraordinary Christmas Concert
by the Vocal and Instrumental Camerata of Gran Teatro Falla will
take place on Friday 15. This band will be presenting the "W.A.
Mozart, musical images" program, a tribute to on of the greatest
genious in History and the culmination a year dedicated to the Austrian
musician. The Autumm calendar in Teatro Villamarta, Jerez, includes a Flamenco
Christmas season which will start with the "zambombas jerezanas"
concerts on Friday 15 and Saturday 16. A week after, on Thursday
21, the Christmas Concert will be performed this year by the Capella
della Pietà de Turchini, conducted by Antonio Florio, presenting
a series of Christmas 'cantatas' and 'pastorales'. Other towns go for New Year concerts. In San Fernando, for instance, the Ucranian Philharmonich Orchestra will be playing in Las Cortes
Theatre on Saturday 30.
