Dipronáutica creates a beach in the mountains of Cádiz for adventure holidays

Trips in dinghies, wakeboarding, windsurfing, rafting, archery, and paintball all in four days without having to change location. If this seems a bit too daring, you can choose from a more relaxing programme of activities which includes walking and horse riding.

How is it possible to offer such a wide range of activities in the same place? The answer is simple: the activities which require contact with water do not take place at sea or on the river but on an artificial reservoir in the Sierra de Cádiz (Cádiz’s beautiful mountain range).

Besides this, routes and tracks have been created for other activities in the surrounding area. So once you arrive you can forget about your car until its time to leave.

This is a proposal by the company Dipronáutica which offers adventure holidays around the reservoir Guadalcacin II where it has two centres: one in Algar and the other in San José del Valle. The wide ranging list of activities on offer have been organised in packages.

Each of the all-in packages includes board and lodging, insurance as well as the hire of the necessary equipment.
Considerable investment was necessary in order to convert the site into an activities centre. Dipronáutica has even created an artificial beach on the bank of the reservoir using natural sand.

From England

There is also the possibility of courses and workshops and…even weddings. Since May, several couples have decided to celebrate their marriage on the banks of the reservoir with the Sierra de Cádiz in the background. Most of the clients so far are foreigners. This is largely due to the fact that this concept of adventure holidays comes from abroad.
According to the founders of the company, in countries such as England or Ireland the smallest lagoon or stretch of water are used to set up nautical clubs or to carry out adventure activities.

So when they visited the area around the reservoir they immediately saw its potential. Things are going particularly well, considering that this their first year, and there are already numerous bookings for spring.

From the extreme to the adventure

The activities are principally collective ones since the idea is to encourage group holidays. However, depending on the package you choose, there are also some more solitary activities. The “extreme” weekend option is for the most daring. It includes archery, paintball and windsurfing, all for 395 euros for two people sharing a wood cabin or for slightly more if you want to stay in a hotel.

There are special discounts for groups and reduced rates for second-time visitors to Dipronáutica. The “Adventure” week package includes more relaxing activities and costs 398 euros if you stay at the campsite. Further information is available at: http://dipronautica.creative4rent.com

The company owners do not wish to limit their operation to the reservoir and are open to setting up similar activities in other points of the province.
