This year's issue of the international music festival of Jimena de la Frontera, which takes place between the 15th and the 22nd of July, stands completely under the sign of the African music. Then, amongst others, the historical center of the small village becomes the scenario for artists like Noa, Lura or Lucrecia.
Even though it sounds unbelievable, this years festival´s already the 6th edition that takes place in this typical Andalusian white village, which is strongly influenced by his Muslim history.
Even the best musicians can be put under the spell of this unusual place, with his quite special ambience to which surely also contributes the hospitable engagement of the villagers.
Jimenas magic has already charmed so famous artists like Paco de Lucía, Carlinhos Brown, Joan Manuel Serrat, Chano Domínguez, the Manuel de Falla orchestra, Estrella Morente, Pasión Vega, Tomatito, Clara Montes, Carmen París, Martirito, Javier Rubial, Sara Baras or Antonio Canales who, on the way of the classical music, of the flamenco, the jazz, the Celtic music or the Fado have expressed her feelings far away of the big scenarios and the noise of the big towns.
The organizers of the festival say: “The scenarios here enjoy neither big reputation, nor do they offer capacities for gigantic crowds of spectators. Still they provoke this unique magic, which originates from the mixture of history, nature and music, which surpasses the impressions evoked by the music event itself.
Hearing experiences, as for example the chamber orchestra of the European Union within the walls of a cloister from the 15-th century, the experience of the expressiveness of Maria Joao Pires or a Vicente Amigo, at feet of the impressive castle of Jimena, have transformed every single performance into real works of art, which will remain permanently in the recollection of all visitors of the festival. “
