The attraction of its location and its ecological orientation are the defining characteristics of the new Al-Medina hotel

The municipality of Medina Sidonia, located in the centre of the province of Cádiz, will have a 4 star hotel from 2007. It will be the first of its kind in the town and will offer the most number of rooms. At present there is only one other hotel, Hotel Medina (3 stars) also part of the Tugasa hotel chain, in addition to several rural houses.

Its geographical location and its clear ecological orientation are the main defining features of this hotel. Its owners expect to open at the end of March in time for the Motorbike Grand Prix at Jeréz, which takes place on the weekend of 25th March 2007. If tourist demand in previous years is anything to go by, the hotel will definitely be fully booked for that weekend.

There are 39 rooms, 4 of which are suites and 2 of which are specifically fitted and equipped for disabled visitors.

Amongst the services and facilities offered by the hotel are a Spa with Jacuzzi and thermal showers as well as a fully equipped gymnasium. The hotel will also have its own hairdresser and offers conference facilities for up to 150 people.

With the area being so rich in variety, the hotel aims to be versatile and cater for the diverse needs and interests of its visitors, whether they choose to simply enjoy the town of Medina or wish to explore the surrounding area.

In Medina, which is located on the Route of the Bull, tourists will find an ancient town which conserves its Roman, Arab and Medieval character.

Near the beach and the mountains

However the new hotel can be an equally attractive option for those wanting to go to the beach as well as those looking for excursions in the mountains. It is also close to Jeréz along the ecological A-381 road as well as being near the Bay of Cádiz by Puerto Real.

As its developer Jesús Cocerría points out, “Al Medina” is located in a privileged position, only 25 minutes from Jeréz airport and 20 minutes from the beaches of the Janda region and the same distance from the mountains of Cádiz and its famous White Villages.

The developer has chosen to give “Al Medina” an environmental friendly character with solar panels to heat the water and the only additional energy used will be natural gas rather than electricity. Most of the water comes from the natural spring which has unearthed during the hotel’s construction.
Prices, although yet to be fixed, will be similar to those of other hotels of the same category and characteristics. The management expects to contract 20 employees shortly.
