The Bodegas Tradición dispose of one of the best art collections of Spain
One of the best private painting collections of Spain will open this summer in the museum of Joaquín Rivero, which the art collector has accommodated in the rooms of the winery “Bodegas Tradición” in Jerez de la Frontera.
300 masterpieces of the Spanish painting from the 16th to the 19th century, under it so significant works as for example "El Almuerzo” by Velázquez or the portraits of the king's pair "Carlos IV" and „María Luisa de Parma“ by Goya, to mention only some of the most prominent exhibits.
There are real treasures, that Joaquín Rivero already started to collect 30 years ago and which are made now accessible to a wide audience. The purpose of the collection is to document the meaning of the Spanish painting in the course of the centuries, on the basis of so significant painters like Zurbarán, Valdés Leal, Lucas Villamil or Madrazo.
The museum, whose inauguration had been preceded by complex redecoration-works, is integrated in the building of the winery “Bodegas Tradición”, which is directly situated at feet of the old Arabian town wall of Jerez.
Now the museum complements the real main activities of the “Bodegas Tradición”, which consist in the production and storage of high-quality sherries and brandies, that were settled by the official Jerez wine-regularization council in the categories V.O.S. vinum optimum signatum or very old sherry (20 years and older) and V.O.R.S., thus vinum optimum rare signatum or very old rare sherry (30 years and older).
Thus visitors have now the possibility to combine high-quality enjoyment of art with the pleasure of tasting high-carat wines and brandies.The winery “Bodegas Tradición” was founded only in 1998 with the purpose to dedicate itself exclusively to the production and care of old and traditional sherries and to guarantee for them her balcony- place under the best wines of the world. At the moment Bodegas Tradición is the only Bodega belonging to the denomination Jerez - Xérès – Sherry which commits itself exclusively to the production of these oldest wines.
