It is difficult to define the Villa del Duque, the latest project of the Valdivia wineries in Jerez, which aims to add tourism value to the winery's assets and its vineyard. It is not a hotel, as with only 10 rooms, it cannot really be considered as a regular accommodation service. However, it was designed with the idea of providing accommodation for people in love with the culture of wine and its wineries. The directors define it as “a very personal spot, a refuge of peace and quite, which fit in perfectly with the ageing of our wines". The aim is to submerge the visitor right from the start in the magic of sherry and its wineries, where time passes slowly and silently, and where you can feel the true essence of Andalusia. It is a traditional stately home built in the Andalusian style and is the only villa to have built inside a winery.
Villa del Duque also has several meeting rooms where luxurious comfort combines with state-of-the-art technology behind a word of classicism, elegance and tradition. Bodegas Valdivia also has a series of outbuildings and rooms that are ideal for holding a small congress, a drinks party or any other type of activity or event. Its rooms, courtyards, winery storehouses and even a vineyard, called “El cuartillo de Plata” provide the perfect setting. The winery can host between 2 and 4,000 people, depending on the type of event you wish to organise.
A wide range of activities are organised. Villa del Duque organises wine tasting courses, cooking and gastronomy classes, wine and wellness activities, wine and adventure or visits to wineries. The company’s philosophy is to serve its client so that he can decide what he wants to do and how he wants to do it.
As is logical, Villa del Duque, like most of the other Jerez wineries, also offers guided visits around its premises, where the visitor can choose between a straightforward visit to one the includes wine tasting, lunch, visiting the vineyards, etc. Bodegas Valdivia has produced an audiovisual guide, with additional information about ageing the wine.
“The Magic of Sherry” is an amusing and entertaining way for the whole family to discover the secrets of the wineries and the ageing of sherry wine. It is a trip through the history of wine, that is not overly technical, and according to its managers, "the best way to understand sherry wine and brandies".
All the activities organised by the winery can be tailor-made to fit the need of each visitor, depending on the time he has available or his interests.
Bodegas Valdivia hopes to make its mark on the world of sherry wineries and their role in the province's tourist industry. These wineries can be considered as some of the youngest in Jerez, with the most modern installations and which have been committed to producing top of the range sherries right from the start
