This month, “Volteretas” officially opens to the public in Conil, where people can experience adrenaline, strategy and fun as they play paintball through the 12,000 square metres at the centre. Paintball, which is a combination of a sport and a game, began in the USA twenty-five years and is now all the rage worldwide.

Volteretas Paintball S.C.A. has a reception area, bar, barbecues, changing rooms and three courts: one with barrels, another with inflatable obstacles (supairball) and the third with columns (hyperball).

Its facilities are open from 10.00 a.m. to 03.00 a. m. and 60 people can play there everyday.

It does not matter if you have never played before, as monitors are on hand to show you how to play the game and explain its rules. And it can be played by people of all ages: paintball is addictive whether you start at 16 or 45, and can even be enjoyed by older people as well: whether it is a sport or a game, it is perfect for getting rid of stress. 

It is a leisure gold-mine for tourism and an anti-stress technique for company directors.

Paintball basically consists in hitting the members of the opposite team with colour jelly balls that are shot out of compressed air markers, or "pistols" for the uninitiated. The players wear a mask and a jumpsuit provided by Volteretas to protect themselves from the impact.

Volteretas is in Los Algarrobillos, next to the Casa de Postas in Conil de la Frontera, between the N-340 road and the A-48 dual-carriageway. Access to the complex is from the N-340 road.

The plans of Damián Marín and J. Alfonso Perales – the people behind Volteretas Paintball – include an estate with cork oaks in Medina Sidonia for hiking, cycling and 4x4 activities.

Paintball began in New Hampshire (USA) when a group of farmers used paint balls to mark trees and livestock. What began as a working tool was then used for leisure activities.

In Conil, Volteretas is the best project to enjoy paintball in the province of Cadiz.
