With its 54 holes, Novo Sancti Petri will be one of Spain's largest golfing centres
In October 2007, Novo Sancti Petri will become the province’s largest golf course and one of the most extensive in Spain when its 54 holes are opened to the public, the outcome of combining the 36 holes of the Novo Sancti Petri golf course and the Campano golf course, which is currently in the process of expanding its initial nine holes to eighteen.
The expansion will take place in various stages. In February, Novo will take over the new nine holes that are being built in Campano, which means that the course will have 45 holes and the nine holes with which the Campano course opened in 1985 will be closed.
They are expected to be refurbished during the autumn and included in the total 54 holes available at the new Novo Sancti Petri, where a player will need two days to enjoy its installations to the full.
Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the 9 new Campano holes. The course will be in the Parkland style, with water obstacles, and set among olive and pine trees. Opening offers will be available for the green fees.
The will be 18 holes at the refurbished par-72 Campano course. It will have a clubhouse with a shop, a driving range for up to 30 people, a putting green, chipping green, golf school, Caddie Master with club rental, manual and electrical trolleys and buggies, changing rooms, restaurant, coffee shop and terrace.
Membership will be available and there will be a shuttle service between the 3 courses making up the 54 holes at the new Novo: the "A" course known as Sea and Pines, “B” which is the Central course – the existing one at Novo - and the C course that is the new Campano addition.
Novo Sancti Petri opened in 1990, where there were only five golf courses in the province of Cadiz. Its facilities have been expanded on various occasions due to the growing demand from clients.
The Novo has not only expanded in terms of surface area, but new services are now offered, such as the GPS systems on the buggies and refurbishing the tees and bunkers around the course.
