Peugeot and Porsche choose the province of Cádiz to unveil their new models to the world
More than 1000 specialist car journalists will be travelling to the province in February to check out two of Peugeot’s latest models. 140 Porsche employees will also be arriving to test drive the German company’s new Cayenne 4 x 4, as the 1200 international journalists who have been coming to Chiclana since January have already done.
The province of Cádiz continues to be the choice venue for the most prestigious makes of car to unveil their new models. It is an ideal destination, not only because of the hotels in the area, but also because of its scenery which is so beautiful to drive through.
While staying in the province, the invited experts will be test driving the cars to see how they respond in road conditions. The Sierra de Cádiz, with its rising winding hills and its magnificent views which leave few indifferent, is usually the circuit chosen.
In January the 1200 journalists who test drove the Cayenne stayed in the Meliá Petri in Chiclana. In February it will be turn of the Fair Golf Hotel in Benalup to look after the 140 employees of Porsche-España, while the 1055 journalists checking out the convertible models of Peugeot 207 and 407 known as SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicle), will be staying at the Barceló Montecastillo in Jeréz.
All three of these hotels already have experience with this type of tourism. Last year the Barceló Montecastillo staged the presentation of Z4, BMW’s 2 seater Sports car, while Fair Play Golf played host to those fortunate enough to be invited to test the new version of the legendary Porsche 911 Turbo.
The Montecastillo hotel had to face stiff challenges from Moroccan hotels before being chosen by Peugeot. In the end, despite their lower prices, the competition could not match the quality of the hotel in Jeréz or the attractions the province of Cádiz has to offer.
From 5th February to 15th March, a continuous stream of groups of journalists will be arriving on charter flights to Jeréz. Immediately after landing, they will start out on the first of the two circuits which have been planned for them.
The challenge of the mountains of Cádiz
Leaving the airport they will head towards the mountains, passing through Arcos de la Frontera and Algar. After staying the night at the Barceló Montecastillo hotel, the second of the circuits begins. Once again the circuit goes through the Sierra de Cádiz, but this time it is a circular route starting out and finishing at the hotel.
Peugeot has provided between 80 and 100 new models. Half of these cars will be waiting for journalists at the airport and the other half will be in the hotel car park. The journalists are mostly from Europe but the last scheduled group is from the rest of the world.
On 12th February the first of four groups of 35 Porsche’s professional employees will be arriving at the Fair Play Golf to test drive the Cayenne. The German company’s philosophy is that in order to sell a car the seller should know the produce perfectly and the best way of getting to know it is by driving it. In this case all 140 employees are Spanish. Most will be arriving at Seville Airport before travelling to the hotel in a fleet of Cayennes.
Before these employees arrive however, 1200 journalists from all over the world will have already been test dr
